Homemade Focaccia Recipe

Ingredients:

- 500g bread flour

- 2 teaspoons instant yeast

- 1 teaspoon sugar

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- 350ml warm water

- Toppings (optional): cherry tomatoes, olives, rosemary, sea salt, garlic, etc.

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well to combine.

2. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the olive oil and warm water. Mix until a rough dough forms.

3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

5. Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).

6. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles and transfer it to a lightly oiled baking sheet. Use your fingers to press the dough out into a rectangle or square shape, about 1-inch thick.

7. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for another 15-20 minutes.

8. After resting, use your fingers to make dimples all over the surface of the dough. Drizzle with a little more olive oil and sprinkle with toppings of your choice, such as cherry tomatoes, olives, rosemary, sea salt, or minced garlic.

9. Bake the focaccia in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

10. Once baked, remove the focaccia from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade focaccia warm with your favorite dips or as a side to soups and salads.

Tip: Feel free to experiment with different toppings and flavors to customize your focaccia according to your taste preferences!
