Ty Melin Bakery Almond Croissant Review

As a food critic, I approached Ty Melin Bakery with high expectations especially considering all the media about them being one of the best in the area. Unfortunately, their almond croissant fell short in several ways:

  1. Texture and Weight: The croissant was disappointingly heavy and stodgy. It lacked the delicate flakiness expected from this pastry.

  2. Frangipane Integration: The frangipane (or “Crème d’Amande”) seemed baked into the croissant, resulting in an overly dense interior and a wet exterior. It lacked the distinct layers that make a croissant delightful.

  3. Buttery Essence: The absence of any lamination was evident due to the dense almond filling. While I appreciate their commitment to being an artisan bakery, the compromise of baking in the Crème d’Amande affected the overall experience.

  4. Overall Impression: Ty Melin Bakery’s almond croissant failed to capture the essence of this classic treat. It left me craving the real thing.

  5. Price: At £4.00 it’s not the most expensive almond croissant i’ve bought, but it’s defiantly in the “Artisan Bakery” Price range.

Rating: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

In summary, I cannot recommend their almond croissant. If you’re seeking a light, flaky pastry, look elsewhere. As a staunch supporter of all things local this was difficult for me to write, and i’m only basing my review on one item.

Please note that my review is based on my personal experience, and individual preferences may vary. If you visit Ty Melin Bakery, explore their other offerings—they might excel in different areas! 🥐
