Exhibition Overview: Renowned artist and former Chair of the Welsh Group, Sue Hiley Harris, returns to The Table in Hay-on-Wye with a captivating new exhibition of drawings and weavings. Following the success of her 2021 exhibition at the same venue, and her major show at Ruthin Craft Centre, “Weaving Unearthed,” Harris continues to explore the intricate relationship between material, structure, and form.

Artistic Themes: In this latest exhibition, Harris delves into geometric abstraction, with a particular focus on the golden ratio. Her works feature the inherent grid-like structure of weaving, balanced proportions, and the Fibonacci sequence. The exhibition showcases a variety of textures and techniques, including indigo-tipped paper-yarn, muted earth pastels, and delicate black-ink lines.

Artist Background: Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Sue Hiley Harris studied fine art at Queensland College of Art before moving to Britain. She furthered her education in hand-loom weaving in Bradford and science with the Open University. Harris has exhibited internationally and has works in public collections across Wales, England, France, and Italy. She is a member of both the Welsh Group and 56 Group Wales and serves as a trustee of the Theo Moorman Trust.
